The Which? Fund, delivered by Which?, provides grant funding to support high-quality research that improves understanding of consumer harm and helps shape practical, evidence-based solutions. The fund is aimed at projects that benefit diverse and disadvantaged consumers across the UK and have the potential to influence policy, regulation or industry practice.
Grants are available to UK-based charities, universities and not-for-profit Community Interest Companies. Projects should focus on strategic consumer issues, such as unfair markets, emerging business models, digital practices, or systemic problems that create harm for consumers. Collaborative bids are welcome, provided the lead applicant meets the eligibility criteria. Projects can run for up to 12 months, and while there is no fixed minimum or maximum award, the overall funding pot for the round is limited, making competition strong.
The application process is typically run in stages, beginning with an outline application. For the current round, outline applications must be submitted by 5pm on Monday 30 March 2026. Shortlisted applicants may then be invited to submit a full proposal. Applicants are encouraged to clearly demonstrate the relevance, impact and policy value of their research, as well as how it will deliver meaningful benefits for consumers experiencing harm. A total funding pot of £75,000 is available for this call
