The Talbot Trusts is a long-established Sheffield-based charitable funder focused on tackling health inequalities and improving wellbeing across Sheffield and surrounding parts of Barnsley, Derbyshire, Doncaster and Rotherham. The charity traces its origins back to donations made by Frederick and Sarah Talbot and has evolved from supporting hospital-based social work into a modern grant-maker investing in community-led health and wellbeing initiatives.
The Trust provides mainly unrestricted grants, typically around £3,000, although awards of up to £5,000 may be considered for particularly strong projects. Funding is available to charities, community organisations, CICs and grassroots groups with a clear focus on improving lives and reducing health inequalities. Current priorities include reducing the impact of poverty and homelessness, improving physical health outcomes, supporting mental health, and helping people connect with nature to enhance wellbeing. The Trust has a strong commitment to reaching marginalised communities and areas experiencing high levels of deprivation
The Talbot Trusts looks for projects that demonstrate clear community need, evidence of long-term impact, and strong partnership working. Organisations should be able to show how funding will make a meaningful difference, how outcomes will be measured, and how activities can be sustained beyond the grant period. Applications that support local people, address inequalities and create lasting benefits are particularly well received.
The current funding round is open until 2 September 2026. Organisations considering an application are encouraged to review the guidance carefully and ensure their proposed activities closely align with the Trust’s health and wellbeing priorities.
