The Social Enterprise Growth Accelerator (SEGA) is a free business support programme designed to help social enterprises and mission-driven organisations based in Sheffield to start, develop, and grow. The programme supports organisations at different stages of development, from early-stage ideas through to established social enterprises looking to scale their impact and financial sustainability.
SEGA offers a range of practical and tailored support, including structured bootcamps and masterclasses covering areas such as business planning, income generation, marketing, governance, and measuring social impact. Participants also benefit from one-to-one advice from experienced social enterprise specialists, peer learning and action learning sets, and networking opportunities to build relationships with other values-led organisations and local partners.
Eligibility is focused on organisations that meet recognised social enterprise criteria, including having a clear social or environmental mission, reinvesting at least half of profits back into that mission, and aiming to generate the majority of income through trading activities. Organisations must be based in Sheffield to access the programme.
SEGA is funded by Sheffield City Council through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is delivered by the Sheffield Social Enterprise Network, working in partnership with a range of local business, voluntary sector, and social finance organisations.
Places are limited, and support is tailored to each organisation’s goals and needs.
