Santander X UK Awards

The Santander X UK Awards is Santander’s flagship entrepreneurship competition, recognising and accelerating the UK’s most ambitious early‑stage ventures. Designed for university entrepreneurs, startups, and SMEs, the programme offers participants the opportunity to gain national visibility, expert support, and access to substantial equity‑free funding.

The 2026 awards feature three entry categories—University, Startup and SME—with clear eligibility criteria tailored to different stages of business growth. From all applicants, 90 businesses (30 per category) are shortlisted, with 30 semi‑finalists advancing to take part in expert‑led online pitch workshops designed to hone their storytelling, pitching structure, and investor readiness.

Following this, nine finalists—three from each category—compete at the National Final for first, second and third place prizes, sharing a total funding pot of £150,000. All nine finalists automatically gain a place in the highly competitive Santander X Global Awards, providing international exposure and opportunities to connect with entrepreneurial ecosystems across Europe and Latin America.

All applicants receive access to a suite of practical support, including expert‑led webinars on topics such as cyber security and raising finance—equipping founders with essential skills for sustainable growth.

Since its launch in 2011, the programme has awarded more than £1.2 million in equity‑free funding, helping thousands of UK entrepreneurs scale their ventures. The awards continue to be celebrated for building confidence, enabling valuable founder connections, and opening doors to global opportunities.
