Rewilding Innovation Fund

The Rewilding Innovation Fund, delivered by Rewilding Britain, supports projects that can help remove barriers to rewilding and accelerate large-scale ecosystem restoration across Britain. The fund is designed for organisations, landowners, community groups and partnerships that are undertaking or planning ambitious rewilding initiatives and need support to develop, test or expand their approach.

Grants of up to £15,000 are available to help projects progress to the next stage of development, with funding aimed at activities that could unlock further investment or increase the scale and impact of rewilding efforts. Eligible expenditure includes business planning, feasibility studies, community engagement, innovation, technology trials and specialist expertise. The fund focuses on projects that can demonstrate meaningful benefits for both nature and local communities while contributing to long-term environmental restoration.

Projects must be based in Britain, align with Rewilding Britain’s principles and generally involve more than 40 hectares of land, although marine rewilding projects of any size are eligible. Applications are assessed on factors including innovation, sustainability, long-term viability, learning potential and the ability to generate wider environmental and social impact.

Since its launch, the fund has supported a wide range of initiatives, including habitat restoration, species recovery feasibility studies, community-led projects and the adoption of new technologies. By helping organisations test ideas and build evidence, the Rewilding Innovation Fund aims to strengthen Britain’s rewilding movement and support a more resilient future for people, nature and local economies.
