Grants are available for clubs playing in the England and Wales football pyramid to make improvements to their stadiums.The purpose of the PLSF is to award capital grants to clubs to support improvement of their stadium facilities, in order to enhance the matchday experience of players, officials and spectators.
The type of projects that qualify for PLSF funding and the amount of grant available depends upon the level at which clubs are playing.
English Football League Clubs
Grants of up to £750,000 (less any previous grants received from the Football Trust or FSIF at any time since 1990) are available to cover up to 50% of project costs.
English National League Clubs
The level of funding available depends upon the Step that the club is in, as follows:
All grants can cover between 50% and 70% of project costs. Grant values are cumulative and take into account any previous grants awarded to an applicant by the FSIF while at any other level over the previous five years.
Women’s Football Pyramid Clubs
The level of funding available depends upon the Tier that the club is in, as follows:
All grants can cover between 50% and 70% of project costs. Grants awarded apply to any five-year period.
Clubs who play in Steps 1 to 6 of the National League System, Tiers 1 to 4 of the Women’s Football Pyramid and clubs promoted into the English Football League are eligible to apply.
To be eligible for funding, clubs must either own the freehold of the site they want to develop or have a lease with at least ten years or 21 years unexpired, as appropriate (ie 10 years for clubs applying for up to £150,000 and 21 years for clubs applying for £150,000 and over).
