The N-CODE Innovation Challenge is seeking innovative ideas and early-stage projects that could transform how neurological healthcare is delivered across the NHS. The programme focuses on supporting solutions that bring care closer to patients, make greater use of digital technologies and promote earlier intervention and prevention for neurological conditions such as dementia, epilepsy, stroke and functional neurological disorders.
The challenge is particularly interested in projects involving wearable technologies, digital biomarkers, artificial intelligence, mathematical modelling and other digital approaches that could improve diagnosis, monitoring and management of neurological conditions. Applicants do not need to have a fully developed product or service. Early-stage concepts, proof-of-concept studies, feasibility projects, co-design activities and adaptations of existing technologies are all encouraged.
Two funding routes are available. UK-registered businesses can apply for awards of up to £12,000, with funding available for between three and five successful projects. An academic-led route offers funding of up to £30,000 for three projects led by organisations eligible for UKRI funding. Successful projects must be completed within a maximum of eight weeks.
The competition is open to businesses, researchers, academics, healthcare professionals and other organisations with relevant expertise that can contribute to the future of neurological healthcare. Projects should address a clearly identified challenge, propose an innovative solution and demonstrate the potential impact on patient outcomes and NHS services.
The programme offers an opportunity for organisations to test new ideas, develop partnerships and contribute to the future of community-based neurological care. Businesses and organisations developing innovative digital health technologies are encouraged to review the guidance and consider applying.
