The Life Sciences Innovative Manufacturing Fund (LSIMF) is a UK Government capital grant programme designed to strengthen domestic manufacturing capacity across the life sciences sector. Delivered nationally, it supports large-scale investments in the manufacture of medicines, diagnostics and medical technologies, helping to improve UK health resilience and drive economic growth.
The fund provides a significant opportunity for UK-registered businesses undertaking high-value capital projects, with a total programme budget of up to £520 million allocated through to 2030. Grants typically contribute between 10% and 25% of total eligible project costs, with a minimum project size of £8 million.
Projects must demonstrate clear additionality, such as expanding UK manufacturing capability, reducing supply chain vulnerabilities, or supporting innovation in life sciences production. Investment is expected to lead to high-skilled job creation and increased economic value.
Applications are assessed on a rolling basis via an Expression of Interest process, offering flexibility for businesses planning large-scale capital investment. The programme is open to applications until 31 March 2030, or until funding is fully allocated.
