Independent pubs, restaurants and cafés across the UK could benefit from a new £10 million Hospitality Grant Scheme launched by the Department for Business and Trade. Running over three years, the programme is designed to help hospitality businesses grow, innovate and strengthen their contribution to local communities.
The fund will support a wide range of projects, including new hospitality ventures, the reuse of vacant premises, and training initiatives that help people gain valuable skills and work experience. The scheme aims to encourage growth, improve productivity and create opportunities for people entering the sector.
The programme builds on a successful pilot that supported more than 70 rural pub projects, specialist hospitality training facilities and innovation initiatives. By expanding access to funding, the Government hopes to help hospitality businesses adapt, develop new services and improve long-term sustainability.
More than £3 million of the funding has been allocated to Pub is The Hub, an independent not-for-profit organisation that helps pubs diversify and provide additional services for their communities. Eligible projects may include village stores, community cafés, play areas, arts and cultural activities, and other services that increase the social value of local venues.
The scheme recognises the vital role hospitality businesses play in supporting local economies, creating jobs and bringing communities together. It is also intended to help businesses explore innovative approaches that improve efficiency, reduce costs and support future growth.
Guidance is now available, with applications expected to open from the end of September 2026.
