The Endangered Crafts Fund from Heritage Crafts provides small grants of up to £2,500 to support UK-based craftspeople, organisations and groups working to sustain traditional craft skills that are at risk of disappearing. The fund focuses on crafts classed as endangered or critically endangered on the Red List of Endangered Crafts and aims to secure their long-term future.
Funding can be used for a wide range of practical activities, including skills training, taking on an apprentice or trainee, purchasing specialist tools or equipment, developing new products or routes to market, or other work that strengthens the viability of a threatened craft. The fund supports individuals, sole traders, small businesses, charities and community organisations, helping to remove financial barriers and encourage the transfer of vital heritage skills to new generations.
The fund typically operates two application rounds each year. For this round, applications open in January 2026 and must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 8 May 2026. A second round is usually available later in the year. Funding is competitive, and applicants are encouraged to clearly demonstrate how their project will safeguard endangered craft skills.
