Cyber Security Support for Manufacturers

Manufacturers across Yorkshire can now access a new £400,000 fully funded cyber security programme through Made Smarter Yorkshire. The initiative has been launched to help small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses strengthen their cyber resilience as digital technologies become increasingly integrated into factory operations and supply chains.

Delivered in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University, the programme will provide practical support to help businesses protect their systems, data and operations from growing cyber threats. Participants will be able to access four levels of support, ranging from basic cyber awareness training through to guidance towards achieving internationally recognised ISO 27001 accreditation.

A key feature of the programme is the development of Cyber Security Champions within participating organisations. These individuals will receive specialist training to help embed good cyber security practices across their businesses, improve staff awareness and reduce the risk of incidents caused by human error.

The support comes at a time when cyber attacks remain a significant risk to manufacturers, with threats capable of disrupting production, delaying orders and increasing costs. As factories become more connected through digital technologies, robust cyber security is becoming an essential part of operational resilience and business growth.

By helping manufacturers improve their cyber security capabilities, the programme aims to boost resilience, increase confidence in digital adoption and support the long-term competitiveness of Yorkshire’s manufacturing sector.
