A428 Community Fund

The A428 Community Fund, administered by Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, provides grants of up to £15,000 to support not-for-profit organisations delivering community-focused projects in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. The fund has a total value of £250,000 and will be distributed across several funding rounds linked to the A428 road improvement project. All funded projects must be completed by January 2027.

Eligible applicants include charities, community groups, parish and town councils, village halls, community interest companies, social enterprises and other not-for-profit organisations working for public benefit. Projects should deliver clear community, economic, skills or environmental impact and respond to one or more of the fund’s priority themes: supporting and connecting communities, skills and employment, local economic development, or enhancing the local environment in areas affected by the A428 development.

Funding can support activities such as improving community facilities, promoting employment or skills development, enhancing wellbeing, supporting cultural or heritage activity, or creating environmental and active travel improvements. Priority is given to projects that demonstrate long-term benefit and lasting legacy.

Applications are accepted through two funding rounds each year, with typical closing dates of 1 February and 1 August. All applications are competitively assessed against eligibility criteria and funding priorities, with decisions communicated following assessment.
