Made Smarter Y&H – CAPEX Grants

Made Smarter Yorkshire & Humber has reopened CAPEX grant applications from 2 November, following the award of an additional £300,000 of funding.

The programme supports SME manufacturing and engineering businesses across Yorkshire and the Humber to invest in digital technologies that can improve productivity, efficiency and competitiveness.

For the remainder of the financial year, priority will be given to high-value and second grants of up to £50,000. High-value applications need to demonstrate strong, transformational projects, with clear and measurable productivity improvements and alignment with recommendations identified through the business’s Made Smarter Digital Roadmap.

Applications are also open for first and lower-value grants of up to £20,000, although these are not currently the programme’s priority. Businesses considering a lower-value or first application should discuss their project with the Made Smarter team before applying.

Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, and funding may close earlier than planned if demand is high. The intention is currently to close applications in December, subject to remaining budget.

New applications are expected to have a 4–6 week turnaround time.

Alongside CAPEX funding, businesses can access Made Smarter support to assess their digital readiness, develop a Digital Roadmap and identify technology investments capable of delivering measurable improvements in productivity and business performance.
