AI Leadership Apprenticeship Units – Level 5

Businesses looking to build their leadership team’s understanding and practical use of AI can access Level 5 AI Leadership Apprenticeship Units through TESS. The training is fully funded for eligible employers, with no cost to eligible non-levy employers and costs paid from the apprenticeship levy for levy-paying organisations.

The programme offers three standalone units, allowing businesses to select the training most relevant to individual members of their leadership team.

What training is available?

• AI Strategy & Opportunity (AU0009) – aimed at CEOs, Managing Directors and Strategy or Innovation Directors, focusing on identifying AI opportunities, developing the business case and creating an AI strategy.
• AI Adoption & Governance (AU0010) – suitable for leaders responsible for risk, compliance, procurement, legal and data protection, covering areas including AI governance, risk, regulation and responsible adoption.
• AI Delivery & Transformation (AU0011) – designed for Operations, HR, Transformation and Change leaders responsible for implementing AI and managing organisational change.

Each unit involves 30 hours of learning and can be taken independently. Different leaders within the same organisation can undertake different units according to their responsibilities.

The training has a strong practical focus, with participants developing outputs that can be used within their organisation. Depending on the unit selected, this could include an AI Opportunity Map, an AI Governance & Adoption Plan, or a 90-day AI Transformation Playbook.
