Common Ground Award 2026/27

The Common Ground Award is a competitive capital grant programme designed to support voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations that are helping to strengthen social cohesion across England. The fund aims to recognise and reward organisations that bring people from different backgrounds together, helping to create stronger, more connected and resilient communities.

Eligible organisations can apply for grants of £20,000 to £50,000 per organisation to invest in facilities, spaces and equipment that support community engagement and inclusion. Funding is intended to strengthen the infrastructure that enables organisations to deliver activities which encourage interaction, understanding and collaboration between different groups within their communities.

The programme will support organisations that have a proven track record of promoting community cohesion and are seeking capital investment to expand their impact. Projects should demonstrate how the proposed investment will increase opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to come together and build stronger local relationships.

Funding can be used to improve physical facilities, create welcoming community spaces, purchase equipment, or undertake capital improvements that will leave a lasting legacy for local communities. The overall aim is to support organisations that are already making a positive difference and help them extend their reach and long-term sustainability.

The award is open to eligible voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations operating in England. Applicants should carefully review the prospectus and assessment criteria to ensure their project aligns with the programme’s objectives and demonstrates clear community benefits.

Applications close on 12 October 2026. Organisations interested in applying are encouraged to begin preparing their proposals as early as possible to ensure sufficient time to gather the required information and develop a strong application.
