The Jobs Guarantee, delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions, is a national programme designed to tackle long-term youth unemployment by providing fully funded job opportunities for young people. The scheme offers eligible individuals aged 18–24 who have been claiming Universal Credit and looking for work for 18 months a guaranteed six-month paid role, alongside tailored support to help them progress into sustained employment.
Funding covers 100% of employment costs for up to 25 hours per week at the relevant minimum wage, significantly reducing the financial risk for employers and delivery organisations. In addition to wage support, participants receive wraparound employability support, including training, mentoring and in-work support to maximise outcomes.
The programme is delivered through appointed Delivery Partners across Great Britain, who work with local employers to create suitable job opportunities and match candidates to roles. These partners play a central role in supporting participants throughout their placement and helping them transition into longer-term employment.
As part of the Government’s wider Youth Guarantee, the scheme represents a major investment in creating real pathways into work, helping young people gain valuable experience, develop skills and improve long-term career prospects.
