The King’s Trust Enterprise Programme supports young people aged 18–30 to start and grow their own business. Through a combination of funding, training and mentoring, the programme helps early-stage entrepreneurs develop viable business ideas and progress them to launch.
Participants first receive structured support, including workshops, one-to-one guidance and mentoring, covering areas such as business planning, budgeting, cashflow and market research. This ensures applicants are equipped with the skills and confidence needed to develop a sustainable business before accessing funding.
Funding is available at different stages of the business journey. Individuals can initially apply for a Test My Business Idea grant of up to £500 to explore and validate a concept. Once ready to launch, they may apply for a Start Up Grant of up to £5,000 to cover essential business costs. This grant is non-repayable and designed to support early-stage set-up requirements.
Applicants can also access a Start Up Loan of between £500 and £25,000, depending on the needs and viability of the business. Combined, this provides up to £30,000 in start-up support, subject to assessment and approval.
The programme is available across the UK and is aimed at individuals planning to start a business within 12 months. Ongoing support is also provided for up to three years after launch, helping businesses to establish, grow and become sustainable.
