AMRC Scale Up

AMRC Scale-up is a structured, delivery‑focused programme designed to help industrial start‑ups transition from early commercial traction to scalable production. It supports companies developing complex, regulated and asset‑heavy technologies by providing the infrastructure, engineering expertise and national networks required to scale with confidence.

Delivered through the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC), the programme builds on more than 20 years of experience in turning breakthrough technologies into industrial reality. As a founding member of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, the AMRC has a strong track record of generating economic impact, including significant returns on SME support projects within South Yorkshire.

The programme will support up to 10 selected companies with strong scale‑up potential. Participants gain access to over 1,200 hours of intensive technical engagement, advanced manufacturing facilities, and tailored guidance covering operations, supply chain integration, compliance, certification, scaling strategy and investment planning. Start‑ups work directly within AMRC facilities, drawing on expertise in machining, composites, automation and systems engineering.

AMRC Scale-up targets companies that are already generating revenue, moving towards manufacturable products, and operating in regulated sectors such as aerospace, defence and energy. It is particularly suited to businesses scaling production, building delivery systems alongside product development, or establishing UK manufacturing operations following early success overseas.

The programme is aligned with national industrial priorities, the South Yorkshire Investment Zone and the UK’s innovation ecosystem. By combining hands‑on engineering support with investor‑grade planning and national connectivity, AMRC Scale-up aims to de‑risk growth, accelerate delivery, and provide a clear, credible route to large‑scale industrial production.
