This funding programme supports UK‑based SMEs operating in the space sector to strengthen their cyber security and become more competitive in the global market. Its purpose is to help organisations achieve recognised cyber security standards, making them more attractive to potential partners, customers and international opportunities. The scheme is open until further notice and is particularly welcoming applications from micro and start‑up businesses.
Eligible companies must have fewer than 250 employees and hold a manufacturing or operational presence in the UK, including Northern Ireland. Successful applicants receive up to three days of fully funded consultation from an experienced cyber security professional, delivered either virtually or on‑site depending on business needs.
The consultant will assess current IT infrastructure, identify vulnerabilities, and provide strategic advice on areas such as security governance, asset protection, and software development security—excluding hands‑on penetration testing. Support can include reviewing company or system security policies, developing system security requirements, conducting high‑level risk assessments, and recommending mitigation actions. Applicants also receive a written report outlining findings, identified risks and recommended improvements, along with follow‑up discussions to support remediation and risk‑management planning.
Through the associated Cyber Essentials programme, businesses receive further guidance on the steps needed to meet accreditation standards. After an agreed period for improvements, a final assessment is conducted against the Cyber Essentials framework. All consultancy, audits and assessments are fully funded by the UK Space Agency, providing SMEs with practical, cost‑free support to enhance cyber resilience and meet sector expectations.
