Electricals Recycling Fund 2026

The Electricals Recycling Fund provides £1 million in funding to support practical, scalable projects that make it easier for UK households to recycle small electrical items. The fund has already supported over 70 pilot schemes, delivering more than 800 new drop‑off points, 800 tonnes of recycled electrical waste, and thousands of community repair sessions. It aims to expand convenient local recycling options such as on‑street bring banks, community drop‑off points, and refurbished electrical recycling bins, with funding capped at £0.50 per household, up to £100,000 per applicant.

Pilots run for one year and must demonstrate long‑term sustainability beyond the funded period. Applications are assessed on location need, anticipated impact, capacity, convenience, cost‑effectiveness, pragmatism, promotion plans, and environmental responsibility.

Eligible costs include containers, installation, staff time, battery‑safety equipment, marketing, and vehicle rental. Applications must include a full budget, project plan, risk assessment, estimates of expected collection volumes, audited accounts, and collaboration with a registered PCS scheme.

Material Focus will notify applicants of outcomes by June 2026. The fund supports the wider mission to reduce e‑waste, increase reuse and recycling, and make electrical recycling more accessible across the UK.
