The King’s Trust Test My Business Idea Grant supports young people in the UK who want to explore whether their business idea could work in practice. The grant provides up to £500 to help test and refine an idea before fully launching a business, enabling applicants to gain practical insight into customers, costs, delivery and market demand.

The grant is available to individuals enrolled on The King’s Trust Enterprise programme who are at an early stage of developing a business idea. Funding can be used for a wide range of testing activities, including trial selling, market research, customer feedback sessions, prototyping, skills development and planning the logistics needed to bring a product or service to market.

Applicants may apply for the grant more than once, up to the £500 maximum, if further testing is required at different stages. Once funding is awarded, recipients have three months to spend the grant, followed by an additional three months to complete a review and submit receipts, reflecting on what they have learned and how this will shape their next steps.

The application process involves working with a King’s Trust contact, setting up a Grant Hub account, and submitting a clear test plan with supporting quotes. Applications are assessed on feasibility and learning potential, with decisions communicated by email once approved.
